Almost there

Just waiting for the plumber to come back from skiing - not that I am jealous at all :-( Varnished the mantelpiece..

Got the chimney swept...

Expected to see Mary Poppins up there dancing with a bunch of Sweeps..

Bought my DVD recorder at last, thanks to Goldfish vouchers. Hopefully this will not only clear up the Sky+ box, but also the loft.. full of VHS tapes.

I woke up and...

my house had changed! Had a really rough night (threw up) but was up early because the guys wanted to go to the car boot. Soon changed that idea when Chalkie saw the state of me. He was rather more cheery at that hour...

Hey.... where's my candles.... there were four of them!

Next time I surfaced (managed to sleep all day yet feel worse everytime I got up) Chalkie had concreted the floor and inside the chimney and laid the wotsit (what do you call it.. a plinth? a pretend stone thing on the floor? ..a hearth?)

Chalkie even found time for a spot of plastering... I think he'd had to make the hole for the door bigger or something.

Measure twice.. cut once!

You can tell this is the point at which I gave up and slept for the rest of the day feeling ever more like a bag of poo... and left Pops to take the pictures...

He's happy...

n marks the spot..

Quick toast break...

Ta Da!! all done...

Huge, huge thanks to Chalkie and Pops for all the hard work they did and stuff they paid for. I'm sorry I was so useless. Thank you.

Chalkie to the Rescue

Just before Christmas (I know, I'm really behind with this blog) Pops and Chalkie came over for the weekend to help me with the house. I thought the plan was to replace the window and door in the lounge.. Chalkie had other ideas too!

This is the wooden framed old window and door. They let a cold breeze in from the conservatory even when shut!

Something in the conservatory in the way... but not for long..

The obligatory silly pose from Chalkie..

Hahaha... Remi getting drill envy! .. and just where am I going to hang my washing now??

He should have gone to Specsavers..

Apparently that's not the FGH

Pops 'helping' (although at this point I was ironing and taking photos)

Remi would have used a sledgehammer..

Thats just showing off... anybody else would have a pile of small pieces on the floor!

Now he's REALLY showing off... cutting it in half... with a hammer!

Pops keeping busy... warming his arse!

Chalkie's 'lovely' assistant shows us the new door frame..

Chalkie puts in the window frame..

Pops still drinking tea...

Crrrraaaaaasssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh!

Bless him... pretending to be Uncle Chalkie with the pencil behind his ear

Huh?!? NOT pulling a face??

Ah. That's better.

Goodness.. actually doing some work at last

Noooooooooooooo the protective film must be left on forever... always..

All done. How impressive is that!

Took the boys out for food (Packe Arms), via B+Q etc looking for ovens, as a reward for their days work (well, Chalkie's work). Meanwhile I was feeling more and more ill.
