Never good enough

Busy Saturday (and rest of week) getting the house ready for arrival of parents. The fact that they then spent Monday (while me and Chalkie were at Donington) cleaning windows and going to the dump and planting things and... implies that it wasn't good enough. Oh well.

Pics from Saturday.. did a fast 10k, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen, weeded and scrubbed the patio, weeded the drive (again), cleaned the lounge, fixed the bed..

Time up for the old desk (no-one wanted it on Freecycle). Carefully taken apart using a screwdriver, an allen key, and a size six converse!!

New desk much nicer (and goes through the door in one piece!)

Then finished painting the landing (covering up all the whoops moments!), downstairs all ready. Time for Star Trek! Sorted upstairs on Sunday after the carboot. Was making a pigs ear of the bookshelf when they arrived.. feel really bad that Chalkie had a screwdriver in his hand before a cup of tea!!!

Drat.. can't reach it

Almost no ivy left.. had a great day May 2nd ripping it all off. Very surprised that I didn't end up with any roof tiles on my head.. was just tugging on the vines to get them down.. then realised when I got up to roof level how badly they had grown into the house.

Am annoyed that I can't get this last bit..

And I fear the brickwork will forever bear the scars of the roots.. won't scrape or wash off. Grrr. Any ideas?

Oh.. and the bonfire heap now looks like this...

Had great fun on Saturday night hehe... although did poo myself when I lit like 2 matches and then 10 seconds later there were 8 foot flames!!! .. where's your Dad when you need him?!?!

And I have strawberry plants..

and lovely pansies in my pots lol!

Anybody else getting worried about me?

Hello little weed

Yay!!! my Star Wars sunflowers are poking through!!!

Planted on May the Fourth in case you're wondering why they are SW flowers. My first tomato plant is here too..

And today I did the last of the frames.. just the doors to go now..

Holy worn out gloves Batman!!!

See... Holey gloves!

Back garden very colourful at the mo with all the lovely blossom..

Was trying to weed the driveway the other day when the next door neighbour, having moved in about 3 days previously, insisted on giving 'Hayley' the 'Ivy Lecture' for about the third time. In the end he came over with 3 saws and started hacking at the root. I kept calm.

There's lots of it!

So today when I finished the weeding.. I attacked it! ... need a ladder now!

..and look what I found! ..

In the 8 years I've lived here I had no idea that was on there!! Looks like its time for a bonfire... Pyro heaven!! oh, and in terms of scale.. its as tall as me!! hehehe

Bit scared about the sheds.. nearly set the bike shed alight last time.. oops. Guess that'll be the next post.. unless its from the WIC explaining a ladder/ivy related incident!

More mess

Well, less mess here..

but lots of mess here..

Tackled a small part today... and realised just how many candles I have... oops! Best get melting hehe.

Finished painting the walls on Thurs whilst chatting to Vicky. Just the woodwork to go.. sigh!

Prep done

All the priming finally done.. need to do the second coat on the last few walls now before doing the woodwork and doors.

Looks a bit like the Sky theme at the mo with all the white.

Did another job today (Wed). Didn't fancy painting when I got back from walk in the Peaks, so decided to tidy the conservatory instead. Shame the loft is worse now (candle stuff back in there), but I did throw some stuff out and a couple of things are in the car boot box.

This is the already tidy end..

and this was the messy end...

Now looking much better. Don't know whether the Freecycle bookcase will stay there, or go in John's room when he moves out. Guess it depends if I manage to get another lodger ever.

JD

Did my task last week.. needs some colour tho..

Think my task for this week is to cut the grass and weed the patio. Disappointed that the patio is laid on sand and concrete and still the weeds come through, but there you go.

Also want to get the last few bits on the landing primed before Good Friday. Keep busy.

Bit more

Been doing a bit more.. mainly to keep my brain occupied and stop me from crying. Other than that don't really have any motivation for anything.

Almost there with the sanding..

These look strange primed..

The target set for me today (for above reasons) is to weed the border. Here's current state:

and here's my nice daffs.

More clouds

Had a good day yesterday. Sanded the red wood bit on top of the wall (I know what I mean) and hoovered everywhere. Then played a gig on Guitar Hero (hehe). Then did my bedstuff washing. Then cleaned the rats. Then had food. Then painted (with primer) the red wall thing and 2 sections of skirting..

Then late, as usual, for football. Not sure whether it was kill or cure. Knee is stuffed. Home, food, shower, back out for Translate meeting.. good presentation on Sensory Integration issues. Finished a secret task... bed.

At long, long, long, long, long last!!

Guess what... after what... four years?? and one big broken promise... I have a gas fire!!!!!!

Well done Pete. And Chalkie. Not put it on yet... waiting for company. Hope wednesday is cold!!!

Extremely slow progress

Oh dear, I thought half term was slow progress, but this last week back at school has been a real struggle to get stuff done. Have managed to paint the loft hatch.. (think this was just the primer)

And sand all the skirting board (in one small section a day)

Really want to prime all the non cupboard woodwork and maybe do another coat on some of the walls before wednesday (trying to impress Jon at Alpha Bravo). So need to finish sanding the top of the wall first (red bit).. see how it goes tomorrow...
