I'll swear its the Magic Porridge Pot of Fences that thing... when I turn my back someone adds a few more planks. Oh well...despite having brush in hand by 8am, and putting in a solid morning's work, till gone 12, I'm still 14 panels short. And I need longer arms. Back burned again on the bits I couldn't reach. Hope its dry again tomorrow morning so I can finish it.
Spent the afternoon with Alison touring Lufbra's purveyor's of garden furniture... before deciding on the one I originally fell in love with in Tescos!! Its not in stock online though, so have to hope and wait. But at least have a nice (cheaper) option as a back up. Don't know whether to feel guilty for spending more, or just to be happy I can go for the one I really like. Wish could have bought it today before I do my accounts tonight!!!

Bigger than I thought
The old fence. Longer than I thought. Therefore will take longer than I could stand in the cold wind to paint fully. Wasn't convinced it was worth it while I was doing it last Saturday after cutting two lawns, but the painted bit does look vaguely nicer. And however much hard work it is...its still easier than trying to dictate this blog's website address to Pops.

Grass seed I planted that day showing no signs of action as yet. Oh well. Maybe it needs some sun. Which has disappeared for the last three weeks! Come on summer...am desperate to get my shorts out of the loft... but not while its raining and the heating still sometimes comes on.
Still have plenty of indoor jobs too. And I fear this should be a priority. My other desk. What a disaster zone. Am ashamed. Am so far behind with so many things. Sinking fast.

Big Strong Harley 1: Big Horrid Bush 0
Right. State of play Sunday morning... nice pile of ash, still smoking. One and a half panels to go.
Still a mess here too.
No wonder its taking so long...you just can't get the staff these days... slacker!!!
The remains of the bush remain. Not going to be easy. Aspie perseverance required I fear.
And a bit of teamwork. Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and get on with it!
LOL!! oooh... we're so attractive! I'm so glad I take after my Dad (??!)

Rooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr! Big strong Harley wins!!! Who said I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag. Me and Pops may look scrawny, but under that weed like exterior we have superhero like strength just waiting to be unleashed. Er, hmmm.
Mum shows her unending tolerance for "Oi, just come here and hold this.." We did an alright job on our 'cut and shut' fence panel. Especially considering it was me that got to weild the hammer. Normally a recipie for complete disaster.

All done!. how good does that look?! Shame the rest of the garden doesn't match it...oh well, its a start. Even got another bonfire all ready to go!

Flower bed looks much better too. Not much like a flower bed...but at least there's room for a game of swingball now!

Its the law!
Ok, so we had a pile of wood and an Aspie. What do you think happened next?!?!
Yep...when we got back from the custom bike show, and pub tea at Trent Lock we set fire to the garden. Yes that is my thesis on the floor, and yes it did feel good throwing it on!
So.. finally allowed to play (no other boys around and Pops letting me do it myself at last)... the only way to get a fire going....poke it with a stick!
..See!...
Discovered that I have two talents in life. One is the Hammer Strength test thing on Wii Carnival, the other is toasting marshmallows. I even invented my own poking device (Joey ref). Quite proud of my genius there.

Got about a hundren photos of the fire (obsession...me??) just picked a couple. Might print one out to put in the hole in the living room if I have to do another winter without the gas one installed.

Unfortunately didn't get any photographic evidence of the moment we discovered that the bike shed is not waterproof. I went inside it to look for something at the same moment Pops decided its wall was getting a bit warm, so threw a bucket of manky water at it. Mum found soaked Harley rather amusing. Humph.

Fence Weekend Take Two - Sat
Don't seem to have any photos of the Sunday of the first weekend, so we'll cut to 10th May. Parents came up again. Planned an "early start" for Saturday... could have been worse I guess. This is the state of play at the start of the day.. had got two panels in the last weekend, and leaned the old fence up against it to plug the gap..as demonstrated by my lovely assistant!

Harley and a crow bar soon reduced the old fence to this...
Meanwhile Pops attacked the tree that was rudely standing where the fence needed to be...
...and Ma attacked the grass by the path, so as to not neglect my 'reparian' responsibilities.
Hmmm...think I lost out on the toys front there. Still, I wouldn't trust me with a chain saw either (much to Nurse Numpty's relief...although me and Kimber are still on for our first to visit the WIC competition).
I had decided that a mere fence was not enough for a weekend's work. Aspie brain decided it didn't like the big stupid bush anymore. So first Ma attacked it with the secateurs..
..then Pops had a go!!
To some effect!!

Meanwhile I made lots of concrete, dug holes, weeded (technically brambled) and got to play with a sledgehammer hehe...smashing up all the old concrete in the way of the fence and eventually getting rid of the tube sticking out..

Lets start outside
Welcome to the Harley's House blog. Technically its not my house yet, so part of the mission is making it so (in the words of Jean-Luc), which unfortunately involves giving all my money to Remi. Hmmm flashback time.
So far on that front I need to get the house re-valued, as hopefully house prices have dropped. Then I can do my maths and make an offer. Eek.
Until then I thought I would start in the garden. This is partly because I don't want to spend tonnes on the house until it actually is mine, and partly because strong winds earlier this year resulted in this...
Hmmm...wonder if those rotten posts had anything to do with it?
So...15th March the folks came down to help. Although looking back I kinda like the extended garden with water feature thing...shame about the public footpath through the middle. The morning was spent in Wickes and B+Q having fights over who was paying and seeing if 6x6 fence panels would actually fit in the Walker van (thanks tonnes Alison). Despite the drizzle we then got digging..

Pops taught me how to make concrete... (feel quite proficient now, plenty of practice after 6 posts)
Who says we're alike??? Can't see it myself...

Rain stops play at the end of day one.... just two posts in. Something tells me sorting this house may take a while.
